Western Samoa emergency issue overprinted banknotes

Pick 1 - ten shillings. Incorrectly numbered in pick as the One and Five pound notes were issued much earlier.

Issued type were signed by Lt.Col Robert Logan - The administrator in charge of Western Samoa on behalf of the New Zealand Government and head of the invasion force.

The Western Samoa Ten Shilling note was overprinted on the s223 second issue (Wellington Plate) Bank of New Zealand ten Shillings Banknote.

This unsigned specimen is held by the Bank of New Zealand Archives. The Bank of New Zealand takes conservation of numismatic history seriously and has a fantastic museum in Wellington New Zealand.

First and only issue in 1920 - total issue 3500

Issued 1 March 1920 - numbered 709001 to 716000

Pick 2 - One Pound. First issued in 1915 as emergency currency by the New Zealand Advance Expeditionary Force that landed in German Samoa at the outbreak of WW1.
